THE NEW BREAD FESTIVAL

Location / Dates: The event took place in Kanjiža (Serbia), in the period of 23-24 August 2014.
Short description:
Traditionally, the first bread from the new harvest is baked and then blessed on this day. The main event is the bread blessing ceremony in the Catholic and the Orthodox church. On this celebration artisans offer their goods on Main Street, where people can taste and buy variety of dishes: scone, chimney cake, strudels and goat cheese. For the smallest of the older guests, everyone can participate in meaningful, interesting, and high quality entertainment. This festival include colorful family events, concerts, performances of cultural associations, folk dance shows, the beautiful bread competition, and tasting dishes typical of the region on the square. There is a lot of value that connect us, things that we consider important, which will be accepted as a universal value, so this day.
